Pict. 67. Saint Demetrios (removed fresco).

Pict. 68. Wooden bone-ornamented trone of the Holy Icon of the Virgin of Kykkos, 1785.
Wood-carved objects and church furniture items are also exhibited. From the deserted Metochion (Annexe) of the Virgin of Sinte (Paphos) are exhibited some wood-carved ornaments of the iconostasis, which belong to the 6th century, enriched with gilded locks of plants, clams, birds and animals (picture 69).

An old big wooden and bone-ornamented throne of the holy icon of Kykkos (picture 68) of arabo-islamic style, ornamented with vegetable and geometric motifs as well as Christian symbols deserves special mention. It is a work of 1785, a telling specimen of the co-existence of the two worlds, Orthodox Christianity and Islam and their mutual influence in the sphere of art.

Pict. 69. Woodcarved ornamentation of the iconostasis, 16th century.

Pict. 70. Detail from pict. 69.
